Management of Vegetable Leaf Miner, Liriomyza Spp., (Diptera: Agromyzidae) in Vegetable Crops

Vegetables are considered high value crops based on their growing areas and productivity, even if they affected by a variety of insect pests throughout the whole season. Leaf miner is an immature that lives inside consumes leaf tissues vegetable plants. Adult females puncture with ovipositor, forming tube pattern, feed punctured parts. Host plants survey in Multan (Pakistan) area was conducted. Twenty host were found 2017, whereas twenty-four infested Liriomyza spp. (Diptera) 2022 i.e., watermelon (24% infestation), long melon (75%), pumpkin (71%), round gourd (67%), snake (70%), bitter (50%), (89%), bottle (93%), pointed (80%), snap (86%), ridge (83%), cucumber (98%), mung bean eggplant (60%), Petunia alba (88%), Zinnia elegies (30%), cotton (10%), okra (5%), berseem (7%), tomato Pea (52%) Canola (28%). No infestation miners observed potato, chilies, sweet potatoes. Color attraction results 2017 showed there maximum towards yellow sticky cards as compared to blue cards. Varietal preference crop Baby red most preferred (Liriomyza spp.), comparatively Sehar least variety. Field efficacy four different insecticides against also tested. Insecticidal effects attributed percent reduction highest values after 7 DOA for Spinetoram (76.98%), Bifenthrin (57%). Deltaphos (43 %) toxic insecticide Integrated approaches recommended manage like application traps, discouraging plants, novel modes actions spintoram spinosad effective management.
